Job Summary:

The primary responsibilities of this role are facilitating, developing, and presenting Valley Works Career Center (VWCC) Workshops for job seekers, employers, community-based organizations, and other targeted audiences. Role objectives primarily focus on recruiting, facilitating, and developing workshops and creating and executing outreach programs to enhance services to a diverse customer base, special programs, and strategic partners to achieve career center goals.

Essential Functions / Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates all assigned workshops and trainings for VWCC Career Center customers and programs to meet career center goals
  • Provides bilingual training delivery, bilingual workshop facilitation, bilingual marketing and training material development, as assigned to meet program and career center goals
  • Facilitates the delivery of assessments and/or testing as assigned to meet program and career center goals
  • Develops curriculum for workshops and assists staff in the presentation of workshops
  • Prepares for workshops and outreach activities by supplying, copying, and organizing the appropriate materials and equipment to be used
  • Assists in marketing Career Center services to employers, individual customers, and specific targeted audiences with appropriate focus to meet organizational goals.
  • Develops marketing and outreach activities, including online marketing to reach employers, individual customers, and specific target audiences with appropriate focus to meet organizational goal
  • Conducts on-site presentations and workshops to employers and interested parties as needed
  • Works with community organizations and assists in planning, scheduling, and marketing workshops or information sessions of interest to a variety of customers and targeted audiences at the Career Center and within the community
  • Assists in scheduling workshops through the Career Center's Management Information System, and in the reporting and tracking of the use and demand of workshops
  • Collects Customer Satisfaction surveys, compiles data into the appropriate database and works closely with the Career Center Director, Workshop team, and special program or project coordinators to ensure total customer satisfaction of services and the generation of reports to document satisfaction
  • Assists VWCC Career Center customers with computerized job search, computerized learning and skills building, self-directed resume preparation, resume critique, one-on-one job search skills, work readiness preparation, skills assessment, essential career planning, essential career development planning, career training, literacy improvement, vocational training and familiarity of and use of resource room materials
  • Assists in the proper maintenance of library materials, workshop equipment usage, and computer learning labs, ensures adequate use of Library computer software materials
  • Assists customers with disability programs and equipment as needed
  • Facilitates and improves literacy programs, job clubs, networking groups, work readiness programs,
  • computer learning labs, focus groups, and peer support groups for diverse groups and audiences
  • Captures and enters workshop attendance into the Career Center Management Information System
  • Ensures that customer workshop materials are distributed to counselors to be filed into folders accordingly
  • Develops, schedules, executes, measures, improves, and reports on marketing and outreach activities
  • Ensures quality control continuous improvement, and excellent customer service in all activities
  • Provide guidance and technical assistance on learning plans, work readiness plans, and various online programs designed to support VWCC programs, WIA program elements, and special programs for vendors, schools, and community-based agencies
  • Responds appropriately to changing business needs and/or changing schedules, program demands or goals
  • Must complete a CORI & SORI background check within the first thirty (30) days of employment. Other duties as required

Skills and Qualifications: 

  • A Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in Education or Organizational Development.
  • Two years of demonstrated experience in presentation and workshop facilitation required.
  • Five years of demonstrated experience in presentation and workshop facilitation may be used as a substitute for education.
  • Demonstrated experience in effective workshop facilitation, curriculum development, and problem-solving skills required.
  • Demonstrated experience in effective marketing and outreach activities to promote workshops, programs and to support the achievement of program goals.
  • Demonstrated experience working both independently and within teams to complete tasks, produce measurable results with or without supervision, a strong team player.
  • Ability to effectively build relationships, develop, deliver and market workshops to adults and youth with limited work experience, limited skills, or barriers to employment, professionals and management teams.
  • Strong presentation skills, marketing skills, and knowledge of computer applications including MS Office and MS Office, Internet, Web based applications including learning delivery, development and design systems, social media tools and social media marketing systems, job search tools and job development is necessary.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills; have the ability to constructively interact with others to resolve issues and improve the operation; promote and foster a diverse working environment; ability to interact with a wide range of individuals and personalities.
  • Excellent communication skills, demonstrated ability to provide clear and concise communication, both written and verbal, in English and Spanish.
  • Knowledge of learning styles, classroom and technology-based training, regional employment, workforce trends, and experience and understanding of the challenges of working with diverse audiences of all ages.
  • Demonstrated experience creating interactive, experiential work-focused workshops and learning sessions resulting in work readiness and increased employment strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience in employment and training, human resources, counseling, or education is strongly preferred. Prior experience in bilingual training delivery and development required.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish required. Must pass a CORI test.
  • Transportation and a valid driver's license are required.
  • Evenings and weekends hours may be required.

Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment and uses standard office equipment, such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. This job regularly requires the employee to sit, walk, and stand, as well as use hands repetitively to handle or operate standard office equipment. The employee is occasionally required to kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
